Sources connected to the Westin hotel in Memphis, TN say that in March 2012, Lamar, shortly before he was cut from the Mavs, stayed at the hotel in one of the guest rooms while his team was in town playing the Memphis Grizzlies.
A source says that when Lamar left the hotel, employees found major carpet damage... including quarter sized burn marks. The damage was so bad, the hotel had to replace the carpet inside the room.
Also, employees found a white powdery substance on the desk blotter and the room reeked noxious smoke, which made it obvious that drugs had been used in the hotel room.
In several other hotels across the country, where Lamar had been staying at, employees reportedly complained about the state of their rooms when Lamar checked out - similar to what had happened in Memphis - and this was while Lamar was playing for the L.A. Lakers.
Although no on the Mavericks didn't know that Lamar was a substance abuser while he was with the team, everyone knew something was seriously wrong with him.
During his last days with the team, Lamar began to abuse Oxycontin and cocaine. His drug problem was so bad, the Mavs cut him mid-season and paid him to just simply go back home to Los Angeles.
